BECIS is currently looking for a talented Design Engineer – Mechanical for BECIS Indonesia business unit and support the company’s growth in Asia.
Job Description
The position holder will be responsible as MEP design engineer under engineering team (Thermal Centre of Execellence) and report to the Execution Director of BECIS Bioenergy (thermal) and is based in the head office location.
In general, the MEP Design Engineer shall assist the Project Manager and Operation Manager in those duties required to execute the project and plant upgrading in an effective manner, with a particular focus on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other trades. The MEP Design Engineer shall oversee the development of coordinated bill of quantity, calculation, and drawings for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and other trades; and may be expected to integrate shop drawings and other documents into Building Information Model (BIM) deliverables.
Additionally, the MEP Design Engineer’s duties include, but are not limited to plans and specifications review (including review of document changes); preparation of as-built documentation; preparation and interpretation of requests for information; preparation and interpretation of subcontract and contract change orders, review of subcontractor submittal information; preparation of meeting minutes; general project-related correspondence; and other tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieve a detail understanding of the contract documents (Technical Bidding Evaluation, Bill of Quantity, Technical Specification, and Drawing), phasing plans, MEP system interrelationship, construction sequencing, and project schedule,
- Facilitate problem solving as may arise between MEP subcontractor during construction,
- Validate design issues related to MEP and suggest alternative solution and liaise with engineering consultant,
- Assist in the receive and review of MEP submittal,
- Assist the scope review and budgeting justification of MEP change work order (MOC)
- Ensure that MEP subcontractor provide and adheres to relevant quality documents/record.
- Assist in the testing and commissioning MEP equipment Lead MEP cross functional teams on assigned project from concept design through operation release. Assign and coordinate project release tasks. Responsible for project technical requirement and quality,
- Interfacing with client on technical issue of assigned project
- Interact daily with the clients to interpret their needs and requirements and represent them in the field,
- Perform engineering analysis of calculation for pipe stress analysis.
- Review design drawings related vendor drawing and installation instruction and studies interference problem.
- Cooperate and communicate effectively with construction manager and other project participant to provide assistance and technical support,
- Identifying and communicating potential design problems to the rest of the team
Key skills/Competencies/ Experience
Experience
- Minimum 7 years’ experience in a construction industry environment and in a construction as MEP engineer role
- Previous equivalent experience with CHP/ power plant/boiler installation & construction (prefer with solid fuel
- Should have previous experience reviewing technical documents along with the ability to spot errors.
- Must be familiar with common industrial codes/standards (i.e ASME, ASTM, AISC, NFPA, SNI, etc)
- Capable of making independent decisions; whilst being appreciative of department managers and existing protocols
- Good personality: Decision Maker, Integrity and Honesty, leadership, Negotiation, communication
Competencies
- MEP engineering design with an experienced minimum of 6 – 7 years in CHP/power plant/boiler industry with solid fuel.
- Proficient in computer software programs such as CAD, Sketch up or Naviswork (3D model), ISO drawing, and database systems,
- Basic analytical experience and proficient typing skills
- Data organization and storage knowledge
- Basic analytical experienced for P&ID, PFD, CAESAR II (for pipe stress analysis)
- Cross-functional management capability
- Strong Leadership and fast-paced team player
- Must possess problem solving skills, analytical thinking, technical competency, and conflict resolution.
Qualifications
- Relevant mechanical/electrical university degree (S1) in engineering (mechanical or electrical), degree from a technical college is also acceptable,
- Computer literate, especially have experience in computer-aided design and drafting CAD and Naviswork
- Ability to work well in a team and on your own,
- Ability to respond well to criticism and maintain a positive attitude,
